Description is exactly Portrait of an actor backstage. Acting and photography are complementary art forms. An actor must be the subject of an observer, and a photographer must have a subject to observe. Each is sufficient to sustain the other, in theory. “Inspire” comes from the Latin verb “inspirare,” translated “to breathe into.” I see this image as a depiction of inspiration, of receiving this ‘breath,’ though the roles of recipient and inspirator/inspiratrix are fluid. [Photographer and Subject are lesbians who will never speak again.]
