Reflection is key to identity and its discovery. Taking agency of how I’m perceived, I stood both in front of and behind the lens. Instant cameras capture a fleeting moment, documenting a formative time in the life of a younger butch. I looked directly into the camera, ensuring that my story is told through my own eyes. I photographed the moment from multiple perspectives, both of which are my own in their own right.
