This is what a lesbian punk prom looks like

[Artist Statement] Tell us more about your photo by sharing a brief artist statement OR answering this prompt: "This is what being ______ means to me..." (Max. 100 words)

Being lesbian, specifically butch, means everything to me. It’s how I interact with the world, its my gender identity, it’s how I found community and found myself. Being able to dress in drag, and defy expectations as a butch is so life affirming.

[Visual Description] Describe your photo so we can provide alt-text. Example: "Two women holding hands and smiling as they walk in a pride parade, surrounded by rainbow flags."

Two non-binary lesbians dressed up for prom, one in a tie and the other in a corset and tights, pose for a picture at a leather bar, both smiling but not at the camera. They shine in front of the dark background of the bar. Behind them, a leather daddy mural peeks out.
