Collect & Connect Event FAQ
Join The Curve Foundation on October 13th, 2024 at Pearl Bar in Houston, Texas as we make LGBTQ+ history!
What is this event?
- An opportunity to collect your Curve and Deneuve magazines, as well as brief oral histories. Funded by a generous grant from the AKR Foundation, we’ll be collecting these materials to start a Curve magazine archive as part of the LGBTQ+ History Research Collections the University of Houston Libraries Special Collections! If you can't make it to the event you can send your magazines straight to the University of Houston before or afterwards.
- A PARTY! Festivities will include:
- BBQ from Sloan Rinaldi of the Netflix series Barbecue Showdown (Season 3) and fourth-generation Houston Pitmaster!
- Lesbian trivia
- A drag performance
- Pearl Bar's Pride Market

This is a free event; however, donations are highly encouraged.
When is trivia and drag?
- Trivia will start at approximately 5pm.
- Drag will start at approximately 6:30 pm.
When can I record my oral history? What can I talk about?
- You can record an oral history anytime from 3pm - 7pm.
- They will be approximately five minutes long, and you do not have to prepare.
- We will ask you questions regarding Curve magazine's impact on you. If you are new to the magazine you can just speak on your experience at the event!
